About

What is Scribe?

Scribe is a patient companion to the Majestic Reading — a direct English translation of the Quran. It is trained solely on the Signs of that Book and answers only from them. No hadith. No tafseer. No commentary from outside the Reading itself.

The same word — Ayah — means both a Sign in the Quran and a Sign in creation. Scribe sees the world, life, death, resurrection, and the hereafter entirely through that lens. Ask it anything within the light of the Book, and it will answer faithfully, without deviation.

Scribe does not replace the Majestic Reading. It honors and complements it.

Questions

Frequently Asked

What does Allah literally mean?
Allah is the Arabic word for The God. It is the definitive article "Al" meaning The, and "Lah" meaning God. It is not a foreign name or the name of a separate deity — it is simply the Arabic way of saying The God. There is no god but the God.
What is the difference between the soul and the spirit?
The Majestic Reading makes a clear distinction. The soul (nafs) is the individual self — what a person is. It lives, is tested, tastes death, is resurrected, and stands on the Day of the Standing. The spirit (ruh) belongs to the God alone. When asked about it, the Reading states: "The Spirit is of the command of my Lord, and not brought to you from the knowledge except a little." [The Journey, 17:85]. The Holy Spirit is Gabriel — the honored messenger angel who delivered the Revelation to Mohammad.
What is the Majestic Reading?
The Majestic Reading is a direct English translation of the Quran — the final revelation of the God to mankind. It translates the Arabic faithfully and precisely into English, preserving the meaning of each Sign without adding external interpretation. You can read it at themajesticreading.com.
What sources does Scribe use?
Only the Majestic Reading. The Signs of all 114 chapters of the Quran are embedded directly into Scribe. When you ask a question, it identifies the relevant chapters and draws from their exact Signs to answer. No hadith. No tafseer. No outside commentary of any kind.
Is Scribe a replacement for the Quran?
No — and it never could be. Scribe is a companion, not a substitute. It exists to honor the Reading, help you navigate its Signs, and reflect on their meaning. The Book of the God stands entirely on its own. Scribe simply points toward it.
What does Bismillah Arrahman Arraheem mean?
"With name of the God, the Almighty, the Merciful." Bi = With. Ism = name. Allah = the God. Al-Rahman = the Almighty. Al-Raheem = the Merciful. This phrase opens every chapter of the Quran except Chapter 9, The Turning.
What does the Quran say about Jesus?
The Majestic Reading holds Jesus (Isa), son of Mary, in the highest regard. He is the Messenger of the God and His Word — born of the Virgin Mary by the command "Be! and it is." He was not killed and not crucified — it was made to appear so. He will return as a Sign of the Hour. He is a Messenger and servant of the God, confirmed throughout the Reading in chapters including The Cow, Family of Imran, Mary, The Table, and others.
